Stilla

In de vroege ochtend ligt dit kleine bootje stil in een beschutte inham, waar het water zo kalm is dat zelfs de kleinste rimpelingen ontbreken. “Stilla” betekent “stil” in het Zweeds – en deze absolute rust straalt van alles af. Het is het soort diepe stilte die je vindt in de Zweedse natuur, waar bladeren misschien wel lijken te fluisteren in plaats van te ritselen.

Wat me in dit beeld fascineerde was het contrast tussen de strakke, geometrische lijnen van de boten en de zachte, organische vormen van de natuur eromheen. Die harde randen en bootrompen steken af tegen het vloeiende groen van bladeren en takken. De bootjes liggen er alsof ze al jaren op dezelfde plek dobberen – sommige half vol met regenwater. Menselijke vormen die de natuur misschien over lange tijd weer langzaam weer tot zich neemt, wie weet.

In the early morning, this small boat lies still in a sheltered cove, where the water is so calm that even the smallest ripples are absent. “Stilla” means “still” in Swedish – and this absolute tranquility radiates from everything. It’s the kind of deep silence you find in Swedish nature, where leaves might seem to whisper rather than rustle.

What fascinated me in this image was the contrast between the stark, geometric lines of the boats and the soft, organic forms of the surrounding nature. Those hard edges and boat hulls stand out against the flowing green of leaves and branches. The little boats lie there as if they’ve been bobbing in the same spot for years – some half-filled with rainwater. Human forms that nature might slowly reclaim over time, perhaps.
